Creative Expressions Gallery / Submission #119 2

Las Vegas has been my home for over 18 years. Resilience, strength, independence, and caring hearts are what make up the diverse people that live here, and it draws likeminded visitors who feel at home and are able to be themselves. When tragedy strikes, this community comes together to lift each other up. I wanted to create a space that allowed for quiet reflection, but also to be able to celebrate and honor those that have been so tragically lost, our first responders, everyday heroes, and those that sSurvived. I normally frequented outdoor music events. My sister called to see where I was as she had heard the news that night. Everyone is just a blink of an eye, here or not, just depending on where they are in space and time. It's important to heal, and be graceful in our encounters, no matter if we agree or not. It is my hope that my sculpture and site designs will offer a vehicle for people to come together and be able to really "see" each other, through whatever perceived imperfections, appreciate the differences while celebrating common ground.

Welcome to the Gallery, a place curated thematically as a celebration of our community’s creativity, inspiration, talents and diverse perspectives and ideas. We hope it advances your journey of healing. These submissions were received during the first phase of our memorial design selection process from July 1 – Oct. 31, 2022, when the public and individual artists were encouraged to submit ideas for the memorial or artwork created in response to the incident. Some submissions may not be viewable here, but all were shared with the design team finalists to inform their design proposals. We will never share your information with advertisers or third parties.
