Creative Expressions Gallery / Submission #106 2

My husband and I are survivors. The support of other survivors, including families of the 58, is what helped us most. As a group, we have made many trips to the healing garden and take pictures to capture these precious moments, and post on social media, as many visitors do. My idea is to create a meaningful mural of wings with symbols to honor everyone, including the 58 who died that night, their families, survivors, first responders and everyday heroes, and the entire Las Vegas community. To do this, I am partnering with the artist who created the famous Nashville wings mural, as well as over 350 other murals, Kelsey Montague, to create a large, meaningful, symbolic wall mural, along with a memorial plaque, that would be a feature destination for visitors to the Route 91 memorial site. Knowing people will gather and take pictures, and share on social media, this symbolic mural is meant to spread awareness of this tragic event through the photos people post, and using hashtags under the mural and on the plaque, which will also bring attention to the Las Vegas support services available, such as the Resiliency Center. This could also potentially increase foot traffic ultimately helping local businesses. We don’t want people to forget.

Welcome to the Gallery, a place curated thematically as a celebration of our community’s creativity, inspiration, talents and diverse perspectives and ideas. We hope it advances your journey of healing. These submissions were received during the first phase of our memorial design selection process from July 1 – Oct. 31, 2022, when the public and individual artists were encouraged to submit ideas for the memorial or artwork created in response to the incident.
